Burn Wood for Greater Efficiency and Less Emissions
If you’re heating your modern home with an outdated wood heater, there are several reasons to consider upgrading to one of the newer Holzheizung available today. Two of the most important for many homeowners are a reduction in pollution emissions and much greater efficiency.
Newer Holzkessel reduce the amount of air pollution generated by wood burning. All wood burners emit pollutants including a variety of chemical compounds. Carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, organic gases and particles are just some of the substances wood burning releases into the environment. Smoke from wood burners is a significant contributor to air pollution in some cities and towns.
Modern Holzvergaser greatly reduce the quantity of emissions released into the atmosphere when you heat with wood. Special catalytic combustors in today’s Kaminofen burn combustion gases at lower temperatures, which in turn means cleaner exhaust gas.
The catalytic combustors in modern wood burning appliances also enables them to generate more heat from the wood that is burned. Today it is possible to heat a modern, well insulated home with much less wood than most people realize. Not only can homeowners save on the high cost of other heating fuels and options by burning wood, they can cut back on the amount of wood they need by upgrading to a modern wood burner.
If you have an older wood-burning appliance you would like to upgrade but not replace, consider investing in a catalytic damper kit. Not all wood burners can be retrofitted with catalytic combustors, however.
